Installation Guide

"Before you install" Checklist:

(Please familiarize yourself with the System Requirements

1) Ensure that you have downloaded yKAP install EXE. If not, go to the Download page to download it.

2) Ensure that you have administrative rights on the install machine or you have the Administrator user name and password. You need to have Administrative rights on the yKAP install machine.

3) Decide the folder where you would like to install yKAP. yKAP requires about 30 MB of Disk space.

4) If you will be using Microsoft SQL Server for the yKAP database, ensure that you have ready with you, the Database Server Name, a Valid User name and corresponding password

PS: yKAP installs on SQL Server 7.0 or later. The installer automatically detects SQL Servers on your Network and lets you choose the Server on which you want the yKAP database to be setup.

If you do not have access to SQL Server, yKAP can also install on Microsoft’s free version of SQL Server: SQL Server Express 2005.

5) Ensure that IIS is installed and running on your install machine. (To verify this, open Control Panel -> Administrative Tools. You should find an entry named "Internet Information Services". If you do not find this entry, IIS may not be installed on your machine.

Typical Install Steps (yKAP Trial):

1) Double click on the downloaded yKAP installer EXE.

2) You are shown the Welcome Screen. Click Next.

3) Assuming requirements are met, yKAP installer prompts you to choose the SQL Server to use for install.

PS: If SQL Server Express is detected on your install machine apart from Network SQL Servers, yKAP installer lets you choose where you would like to install the database.

Enter the SQL Login user name and password and click ok.

4) You are shown the "Requirements Test" screen. Click “Next” to proceed. yKAP installer tests your system to check if it meets requirements.

5) You are shown the yKAP License agreement screen. Click "Yes" to proceed.
Click “Next” to continue on the main screen.

6) You are now shown the "folder location choose" screen. Click the “Browse” button to choose the folder for installation. Click "Next" to continue.

7) You are now shown the installation progress screen.

8) If all goes well (it should !), you will see the install complete screen, Click “Finish” to complete installation. The yKAP “Readme”, Help and the application windows open up once you click the “Finish” button. If you get an “You are not authorized to view this page” error, go through the "Readme" file to fix it.

Install Notes (yKAP Trial):

1) After your successful install, a folder named “yKAPTrialInstall” will be created within the folder you chose for installation.

2) A Virtual Directory called “yKAPTrial” will be created under your First Web Site (usually your “default Web Site”.

PS: yKAP install does not modify any of your IIS Settings apart from simply adding the virtual directory (a virtual directory is necessary for any web application).

3) A database named "yKAPTrial" will be created on the Database Server you chose during install.

4) A COM+ package named “yKAPTrial” will be created on your machine. yKAP uses COM+ components for better performance.

After successful installation, you should be able to access the yKAP application using the following URL: http://{yourcomputername}/yKAPTrial . For example, is your computer name is "whistler", the URL to access yKAP is http://whistler/yKAPTrial .

You can login to yKAP using the “default” admin user created during install:

Username: ykadmin Password: ykadmin
